TLDR
- Anthropic was identified as the unnamed AI customer behind RUM’s six-year, $13.7 billion compute deal
- RUM gained around 22,000 Nvidia Hopper GPUs through its Northern Data acquisition
- Anthropic can buy up to 51 million RUM shares at $0.01 each as part of the arrangement
- RUM’s Quake AI unit is operating above 85% utilization, with 250 MW capacity potentially generating over $3 billion annually
- Stock later pulled back on dilution fears tied to RUM’s plan to buy the remaining Northern Data stake using newly issued stock
Rum Group (RUM) stock jumped nearly 20% overnight after a report from The Information named Anthropic as the previously unnamed AI customer behind its six-year, $13.7 billion compute deal. RUM opened sharply higher before giving back some of those gains as dilution concerns crept in.
The stock was trading around $3.55 billion in market cap as of Monday, and had been on a five-session losing streak before the report dropped. A sustained rally would have marked its best single-day performance in over 16 months.
ANTHROPIC SIGNS $13.7B COMPUTE DEAL WITH $RUM GROUP
Anthropic has signed a six-year, $13.7B compute agreement with Trump-linked RUM Group, formerly Rumble, according to The Information.

RUM entered the AI infrastructure space in June through its acquisition of German cloud provider Northern Data in an all-stock deal worth around $767 million. Through that deal, the company picked up roughly 22,000 Nvidia Hopper GPUs and rebranded its AI infrastructure unit as Quake AI.
Anthropic is set to use computing capacity from a facility in Maysville, Georgia, which is still under construction. The site currently has access to 120 megawatts of electricity, with expansion plans that could push that to 180 MW.
As part of the agreement, Anthropic has been granted the option to purchase up to 51 million RUM shares at just $0.01 per share. That equity option drew attention from traders assessing the deal’s long-term value for both sides.
Quake AI Driving Revenue Growth
RUM CEO Christopher Pavlovski has made no secret of his ambitions for Quake AI. The unit is currently running above 85% utilization, and Pavlovski has suggested that 250 MW of total capacity could generate more than $3 billion in annual revenue.
Those projections got some backing from RUM’s most recent earnings. The company posted record revenue of $40.4 million last month, up 61% year-on-year and well above analyst estimates of $30.66 million.
Rumble’s media platform, popular with conservative audiences and home to President Donald Trump’s Truth Social, reported 57 million monthly active users in Q2. But it is Quake AI that investors are now watching most closely.
Dilution Fears Weigh on the Rally
The gains did not hold cleanly. RUM shares pulled back as traders focused on the company’s plan to acquire the remaining stake in Northern Data using newly issued stock, raising concerns about dilution for existing investors.
The selloff was also tied to broader cooling in Trump-linked trades and profit-taking following RUM’s sharp August rally.
The company is still operating at a loss and burning through cash. Its capital-heavy AI buildout means any delays in construction or weaker-than-expected demand from Anthropic or other customers could put pressure on its balance sheet.
RUM’s year-to-date price performance stands at around 13.45%, with average daily trading volume of roughly 3.54 million shares. The stock’s technical sentiment signal is currently listed as Hold.
