IonQ (IONQ) and South Korea’s SDT have signed a multi-year partnership to bring IonQ’s Superion 256 quantum computer to South Korea. The deal also includes IonQ’s silicon-vacancy (SiV) quantum memory module.
IONQ stock was trading up 3.53% on the news, though it had dipped 0.52% in pre-market Tuesday. The stock is still down roughly 10% year-to-date.
This is the first time a Superion 256 system and SiV quantum memory module will be deployed in South Korea. The hardware will go to one of SDT’s existing customers in the country.
The two companies also plan to build a hybrid quantum-classical data center together. That’s a step up from their previous work, which was limited to cloud-based software integration.
SDT is also planning to open a dedicated quantum manufacturing and system-integration facility in Gumi, South Korea. That site will handle IonQ’s SiV quantum memory packaging, quantum system assembly, and commissioning.
IonQ CEO Niccolo de Masi said demand for the Superion 256 is growing globally. He pointed to the Asia Pacific deal as a sign that clients are combining IonQ’s quantum computers with its networking and memory solutions.
Korea Footprint Gets Bigger
This deal adds to a growing list of South Korean partnerships for IonQ. The company already works with KISTI, SK Telecom, Hyundai Motor Company, Seoul National University, and Sungkyunkwan University.
SDT will also take part in a cancer center project. The goal is to develop hybrid quantum-classical infrastructure for medical and biomedical research alongside IonQ.
SDT was named a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer in 2026, which adds some weight to the partnership from a credibility standpoint.
Wall Street Still Bullish
Despite the year-to-date decline, Wall Street analysts remain upbeat on IONQ. The stock carries a Strong Buy consensus rating based on 11 Buy ratings and just one Hold.
The average price target sits at $71, which would represent upside of around 75% from current levels.
IonQ also recently lifted its full-year revenue guidance to between $450 million and $460 million. That revision came after the company completed its acquisition of SkyWater Technology.
The Gumi facility is expected to serve as a key operational hub for IonQ’s global supply chain and regional deployment across Asia.
