Businesses in New York cannot join the preview yet. Stripe lets them register to be notified when access opens. Its documentation gives no date for New York availability.
Who can send and what they can send
The sending business must be based in the United States. Supported recipient countries are listed separately from the sender’s location. Businesses can send either USDC or OUSD to a recipient’s external wallet.
Funds come from a USD or USDC balance in the business’s Stripe financial account. Recipients get the chosen stablecoin on a supported blockchain. Payments usually arrive within minutes, though network conditions can cause delays.
USDC payouts work on nine networks. These are Arbitrum, Avalanche C-Chain, Base, Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon, Solana, Stellar and Tempo. OUSD payouts work on Base, Ethereum, Solana and Tempo.
Stripe tells businesses to check that the recipient’s wallet supports both the chosen token and network. In the Dashboard, the sender adds a recipient and wallet. The sender then picks the crypto payout method, enters the amount and reviews the details before submitting.
Stripe requires an email address, a name and an address for each recipient. If the recipient is a company, the name must be the company name.
How the fees compare with wires
Stripe lists its stablecoin payout fee at $0.50 per payment plus 0.5% of the amount sent. Its listed SWIFT wire fee is $25. A $1,000 stablecoin payout would cost $5.50. A $10,000 payout would cost $50.50.
The two fees are equal at $4,900. Below that amount, the stablecoin fee is lower. Above it, the percentage part pushes the stablecoin fee past $25.
These figures cover only the advertised payout charges. Stripe lists currency conversion starting at 0.5%. It also lists a platform fee of 0.05% on monthly payout volume above $1 million across payment methods.
Stripe first described the 160-market payouts in an Oct. 16 announcement. The post was written by Neetika Bansal, the company’s business lead for Money as a Service. It also said traditional currency payouts reach more than 100 markets through the Dashboard.
The announcement described hosted forms and APIs for fintech firms that want payouts inside their own products. Named uses include loan disbursements, remittances, investment withdrawals and neobank cash-outs.
Stripe placed Global Payouts alongside Treasury and Issuing in one financial services offering. The company said these products can share customer verification information. It also said they work with Open Standard’s OUSD stablecoin and the Tempo blockchain.
In October, Stripe also introduced free instant business transfers through Stripe Pay. These use business profile handles to identify recipients. Both parties need qualifying financial accounts.
The same Oct. 16 announcement said stablecoin card issuing had reached 27 European Union countries. That brought availability to more than 65 countries worldwide. Stripe said it plans to reach 100 countries by the end of 2026.
