TLDR
- Crusoe signed a multiyear cloud deal with Perplexity AI to supply Nvidia GB300 chips for model training and inference
- Perplexity will also rely on Crusoe to manage the hardware over its lifetime
- Crusoe will provide over 1,800 Perplexity employees access to its Enterprise Max product
- The deal follows Crusoe’s roughly $13 billion cloud contract with Jane Street earlier in September
- Financial terms were not disclosed; the deal adds to Crusoe’s push to compete with CoreWeave and Nebius
Data center company Crusoe has signed a multiyear cloud agreement with AI search startup Perplexity AI. The deal gives Perplexity access to Nvidia GB300 chips for training and running its AI models.

Perplexity will also rely on Crusoe to manage the hardware over its operating life. The two companies are deepening ties in both directions, with Crusoe providing Perplexity’s Enterprise Max product to more than 1,800 of its employees.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Why Nvidia Benefits
Perplexity specifically requested access to Nvidia’s newer GB300 chips through the agreement. Perplexity already uses cloud capacity from Amazon Web Services and other large providers, but said Crusoe is helping it secure the Nvidia hardware it needs.
Crusoe also offers chips from Advanced Micro Devices, giving customers more than one option. This matters in a market where many AI cloud providers focus almost entirely on Nvidia hardware.
Crusoe Expands Into CoreWeave’s Territory
Crusoe is best known for building large data centers, including OpenAI’s Stargate site in Abilene, Texas. The company has been growing a cloud division that competes directly with providers like CoreWeave and Nebius by renting AI chips and software to customers.
That effort picked up speed earlier this month when Crusoe signed a roughly $13 billion cloud deal with Jane Street. The Perplexity agreement is smaller by comparison, since no value was disclosed, but it adds another well-known AI company to Crusoe’s customer list.
Crusoe’s growth also puts it in competition with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, along with newer rivals like CoreWeave.
Not all of Crusoe’s data center projects have gone smoothly. OpenAI and Oracle declined to lease an expansion at the Abilene site, though Microsoft later agreed to take that capacity. Crusoe was also removed by partners from a Wyoming data center project being built for Google.
Still, demand for high-end AI chips continues to drive business. The Perplexity deal shows that access to scarce Nvidia hardware remains a key factor for AI developers choosing a cloud provider.
For investors watching public markets, Nvidia stands out as the clearest winner from ongoing AI compute demand. AMD is working to win a share of those same workloads.
CoreWeave and the major cloud platforms now face one more competitor as Crusoe scales up its chip rental business.
The value of the Perplexity contract remains unknown, which makes it hard to judge its financial weight compared to the Jane Street deal.
