TLDR
- Intel stock jumped about 6% in Monday premarket trading, extending a strong rebound from last week.
- Meta’s Muse AI agent is driving fresh interest in CPUs used for AI inference workloads.
- Muse has ranked as the most downloaded free U.S. iPhone app for three straight days, according to Sensor Tower data cited by Barron’s.
- Intel is reportedly in talks with AUO over Micro LED advanced packaging for co-packaged optics and high-density computing.
- Intel entered Monday up 194% in 2026 through Friday, following sharp gains earlier in September.
Intel (INTC) stock jumped about 6% in Monday premarket trading after closing Friday at $108.60. The move extended a rebound that included gains of 4% Wednesday and 8% Thursday.
The latest rally has several catalysts rather than one clear driver. Fresh excitement around AI inference, reports involving AUO and a stronger session for technology stocks are all supporting Intel.
Meta’s new Muse AI agent is one factor receiving attention Monday. Intel, Arm and AMD all moved higher as investors assessed what wider use of autonomous AI agents could mean for CPU demand.
Muse has been the most downloaded free iPhone application in the U.S. for three consecutive days, according to Sensor Tower data cited by Barron’s. Meta stock also gained in early trading Monday.
Meta Muse Puts CPU Demand Back in Focus
AI agents require computing power when running models and performing tasks for users. That inference workload can increase demand for server CPUs alongside GPUs and other data-center hardware.
Arm estimates the server CPU market could grow by more than 35% annually and reach $120 billion by 2030. AMD has projected an even larger potential market of around $220 billion.
KeyBanc analyst Justin Patterson said Meta’s distribution and data give Muse an advantage as it seeks a large regular audience. The analyst said attracting hundreds of millions of monthly or more frequent users would represent success for the platform.
Intel is one of the companies positioned to supply CPUs for growing inference workloads. The stock has already risen 194% this year through Friday’s close, according to Barron’s.
Intel Reportedly Discusses AUO Packaging Deal
A second catalyst comes from Taiwan, where reports say Intel is in talks with AUO on advanced Micro LED packaging. The work would target co-packaged optics and high-density computing applications.
The reported discussions involve using Micro LED technology and glass substrates in advanced semiconductor packaging. AUO brings experience in glass processing, Micro LED manufacturing and related technologies.
Investing.com described the development as a partnership, although DigiTimes reported that Intel and AUO are still in talks. Neither source provided details on commercial volumes or a timetable for products.
The AUO report follows other developments supporting Intel’s recent run. Last week, reports that Intel could work with SK Hynix on U.S. memory production helped push the stock higher.
Intel also gained as the wider technology sector strengthened Monday. Reuters reported Intel up 5.3% premarket as AI-linked stocks rose and falling oil prices helped market sentiment.
AMD and Arm were also higher, reinforcing that Monday’s move was not limited to Intel. AMD rose around 3%, while Arm gained more than 4% in early trading.
Intel’s latest confirmed catalyst is therefore a mix of stronger expectations for AI-driven CPU demand and reported talks with AUO on next-generation packaging. The company’s next scheduled earnings report is currently expected on Oct. 22.
