TLDR
- Lighter (LIT) trades near $3.13, well below its September peak above $5.
- The $3.00-$3.10 area is the key support, with $3.50 the level to reclaim.
- Founder Vladimir Novakovski says Lighter plans to apply for CFTC registrations in November.
- Lighter has repurchased about $33.2 million of LIT since January.
- Team and investor vesting begins Dec. 27, with only about 250 million of 1 billion LIT circulating.
Lighter (LIT) is trading around $3.13 on the Nov. 2 daily chart. The token is well below its September peak above $5 after a volatile October.

LIT opened near $3.16 and reached about $3.25. It fell as low as $3.10 before settling near $3.13.
CoinGecko reported that $LIT rose 6.3% as Lighter prepares to apply for CFTC licenses this month. The post said the licenses could open its perpetual futures to US traders.

LIT needs to reclaim $3.50 to restart the uptrend
The chart is mixed. LIT has broken below the rising trendline that supported its rally from May, but it still trades above a broader demand zone around $2.50-$2.75.
The immediate area to watch is $3.00-$3.10. Holding above $3 could allow another attempt at $3.40-$3.50, which sits near the broken trendline.
Analyst Altcoin Sherpa is more optimistic. He wrote that $LIT could move up to $3.75-$4 on this current run if Bitcoin stays stable, with some small pullbacks along the way. He called it a “very strong mover.”
$LIT moves up to 3.75-4 on this current run if bitcoin is stable IMO. Prob some small pullbacks between here and there, very strong mover. pic.twitter.com/gp7B6Cz7rB

A move above $3.50 would put $4.00-$4.15 back in focus. Above that, the $4.50-$5.00 area from September is the larger hurdle.
Momentum is trying to improve. The daily RSI sits at 46.11, below neutral but well above oversold levels.
MACD is still below zero. Its histogram has turned positive and the MACD line is starting to curl higher, which suggests bearish momentum is fading.
CFTC filing is the main November catalyst
Novakovski said Lighter plans to apply to the CFTC in November for Designated Contract Market and Derivatives Clearing Organization registrations. The goal is a regulated route for US institutional customers to trade on-chain derivatives.
No application had been formally filed as of the latest reporting. Approval is not guaranteed.
Robinhood recently chose Bitstamp over Lighter for its US perpetual-futures offering, with regulatory structure cited as a factor. Lighter still powers perpetual products within Robinhood’s international ecosystem.
Lighter’s total value locked is around $793 million, up about 2.8% over 30 days. The protocol earned about $5.9 million in fees and $4.9 million in revenue over that period.
Lighter also repurchased about $4.03 million of LIT in the 30 days through Oct. 31, up 55% from the prior period. Total buybacks since January are about $33.2 million.
Only around 250 million of the 1 billion maximum LIT supply is circulating. Team and investor vesting is scheduled to begin on Dec. 27.
One model projects a Dec. 31 price near $4.02. LIT would need to gain about 28% from $3.13 to reach $4.
