The fund invests in both VanEck ETFs and third-party ETFs. It targets a 2% Bitcoin allocation, with a permitted range of 1% to 5%.
The fund gets its Bitcoin exposure through a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded product. It does not hold the cryptocurrency directly, according to the company.
How the Wealth Builder fund works
The ETF builds on VanEck’s existing Wealth Builder model portfolios. Financial advisers could already use those portfolios through third-party wealth management platforms.
VanEck selects the underlying investments, manages the allocations and rebalances the portfolio. The mix includes global stocks, fixed income, gold and other real assets.
David Schassler, VanEck’s head of multi-asset solutions, said the traditional 60/40 portfolio was built for a different investment landscape. He said adding real assets could help investors handle a wider range of economic conditions.
The fund’s stated goals are long-term capital appreciation and current income. It also targets themes such as technological change and fiscal and inflation trends.
Fees and structure
The fund’s prospectus lists a 0.15% management fee and estimated acquired-fund expenses of 0.18%. That makes a gross expense ratio of 0.33%.
A 0.07% waiver lowers the net expense ratio to 0.26%. The adviser waives management fees that match fees it or its affiliates receive from underlying funds.
Some investments are held through a wholly owned Cayman Islands subsidiary. That subsidiary gives exposure to digital assets, commodities and related instruments through ETPs.
The fund’s investment in the subsidiary is generally capped at 25% of total assets at each fiscal quarter-end. The filing does not set a 25% Bitcoin target.
The fund does not invest directly in futures, options or swaps. Its underlying ETPs may use derivatives, the prospectus states.
VanEck’s other crypto-linked products
VanEck’s NODE fund launched in May 2025 and targets blockchain businesses such as miners and exchanges. In its September commentary, VanEck said NODE’s Bitcoin ETP exposure rose from about 7% at the end of June to 16.8% at the end of September.
Total coin ETP exposure in NODE reached 22.1%. That includes Ether, Solana, Zcash and Hyperliquid. These figures describe NODE, not WBMO.
VanEck managed about $244.1 billion in assets as of Sept. 30. In March, it partnered with Basic Capital to offer some of its digital asset products through U.S. 401(k) plans.
The company also asked to withdraw its proposed Lido Staked Ethereum ETF on Oct. 14. The filing said no shares had been issued or sold.
Meanwhile, U.S. Bitcoin ETFs saw $526.7 million in inflows on Oct. 19, $23.2 million on Oct. 20 and $524.8 million on Oct. 21, according to Farside Investors. Together that totals $1.0747 billion. Earlier in October, funds saw outflows of $678.9 million during Oct. 5 to 9 and $228.4 million during Oct. 12 to 16.
