Grayscale Files for Worldcoin ETF
Worldcoin traded at $0.3829, rising 7.56% over the past 24 hours after Grayscale submitted a registration statement for a proposed Worldcoin exchange-traded fund. The fund would trade under the ticker GWLD if approved.
The proposed Grayscale Worldcoin ETF would hold WLD directly and track the value of the token, minus fees and expenses. The filing lists the CoinDesk Worldcoin Benchmark Rate as the pricing reference for the trust.

Grayscale has not yet disclosed the fund’s management fee, seed investment, or WLD per share. Those details were left blank in the filing and are expected in later updates.
The trust would operate as a passive investment product. Grayscale stated, “the Trust’s investment objective is for the value of the Shares” to reflect the value of WLD held by the trust.
GWLD Would Hold WLD Directly
The fund would create and redeem shares in blocks of 10,000 shares, known as baskets. Authorized participants could use WLD directly or submit cash orders handled through liquidity providers.
BitGo Bank & Trust would custody the WLD holdings. The Bank of New York Mellon would serve as administrator and transfer agent, while CSC Delaware Trust Company would act as trustee.
The fund would not use leverage or derivatives. Its main role would be to give investors WLD exposure without requiring them to buy, store, or manage the token directly.
Worldcoin is the native token of World Network, a digital identity project linked to Tools for Humanity. The network uses World ID, World Chain, World App, and Orb devices for proof-of-personhood verification.
Privacy Risks Remain Central to SEC Review
The filing identified biometric data as a major risk for the fund. World Network uses iris imaging through Orb devices, and the project has faced regulatory action in several jurisdictions.
The filing also listed World Chain’s centralized sequencer, WLD price volatility, and possible securities classification as risks. Any adverse regulatory decision could hurt WLD’s value or force the trust to close.
About 3.5 billion WLD tokens were circulating as of June 30, with a market value near $1.4 billion. The token also had daily trading volume of about $135.1 million at that time.
WLD remains far below its all-time high of $11.80, reached in March 2024. The ETF filing gives the token fresh market attention, but approval depends on the SEC review process and future amendments.
Grayscale has continued expanding its crypto ETF lineup beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum. The Worldcoin filing adds another product tied to digital identity, artificial intelligence, and tokenized market access.
