Pi Network has released Pi Desktop 0.6.3 with several updates to SoloHost, its framework for running self-hosted applications. The release also marks a naming change, as future software versions will use the Pi Desktop label instead of Pi Node.
The update adds new tools for users and developers while expanding support for local applications. Pi Network continues to test how its desktop software could support blockchain tasks, AI tools, and distributed computing.
Pi Network Improves SoloHost App Discovery
SoloHost now ranks community applications based on how many people are actively running them. The change gives users a clearer view of which applications currently have the most activity across the ecosystem.
Developers also receive a new “My Apps” section for managing published applications. Pi Desktop 0.6.3 adds improved Docker Compose support, which can help developers test, configure, and troubleshoot applications before wider use.
The update introduces a readiness probe that checks whether SoloHost applications respond correctly before users can access them. The feature aims to reduce errors linked to temporary connection problems or applications that are not ready.
Pi Desktop 0.6.3 also fixes an issue involving SoloHost login tokens. In some cases, tokens could expire after the desktop software had remained open for several days, forcing users to log in again.
AI-Friendly Repository Expands Developer Support
Pi Network also introduced a SoloHost repository designed to be easier for AI agents to understand. The Core Team said the structure should help AI tools assist developers with building and managing SoloHost applications.
The move follows earlier additions such as OpenClaw and the Atlassian MCP Server. Those applications showed how Pi Desktop could support local AI agents and professional workflows that connect AI tools with self-hosted services.
The Core Team previously completed a distributed-computing test through SoloHost. Five volunteer Node operators received computing tasks, processed them on their devices, and returned the completed jobs to the network.
Pi Network has said it wants third-party applications to use spare computing power from more than 420,000 claimed Node operators. Participating users could eventually receive Pi tokens for contributing resources. The latest release does not complete that model, but it adds software tools that support further testing of self-hosted apps, AI services, and distributed computing across its wider desktop ecosystem in future releases.
