Alpenglow Targets Faster Transactions
Solana’s Alpenglow upgrade reached devnet on September 25. Anza, the development firm behind the move, confirmed the transition a day after a testnet handoff.
Anza wrote on X: “Alpenglow is officially running on devnet. The handoff completed at slot 504148999: Alpenglow genesis block formed and TowerBFT is retired. App developers: test your programs and integrations now during our observation period leading up to mainnet-beta migration.”
🚨JUST IN: Alpenglow, @Solana’s biggest consensus change in history, is set to go live on the testnet in less than 6 hours.
The new system could make Solana transaction finality 85× faster, cutting it from around 12.8 seconds to 150 milliseconds. pic.twitter.com/ob3OX7CwuN

The upgrade aims to cut transaction finality from 12.8 seconds to about 150 milliseconds. Finality is the point when a transaction can no longer be reversed.
Faster finality could let exchanges credit deposits sooner. Mainnet activation has not happened yet, so regular users have not seen the speed change.
Analyst Crypto Patel pointed to a different level as the one to watch. In a post on X, Patel wrote that SOL had reclaimed $120 after roughly eight months, but called $150 the key trend-change level, adding that a weekly close above it could open targets at $250, $500, and $1,000.
SOLANA PRICE PREDICTION: THE $150 BREAKOUT COULD SEND $SOL TOWARD $1,000$SOL has finally reclaimed $120 After ~8 months, but the real HTF trend-flip level is $150.

Patel also noted that a rejection at $150 could send SOL back toward $75, an area described as a possible re-entry zone.
